Connection Keys

Connection Keys are the security credential that ties every request to a specific agent - enabling per-agent limits, individual kill switches, and instant revocation without changing your code.

Types of Connection Keys

Cheqpoint provides two primary key types depending on your integration needs:

  • Workspace Key - Found under Dashboard → Developer. One key for the whole workspace - ideal for backend services, Zapier, n8n, or quick integrations.
  • AI Agent Keys - Generated per agent under Dashboard → AI Assistants. Use these to give each agent its own kill switch, rate limits, and isolated request log.
  • Scoped Keys - Created under Dashboard → Developer. Enforce action-type allow-lists, amount caps, or sandbox mode (cq_sandbox_...) for safe testing without counting against your plan.

Using Keys in Requests

Pass your secret key in the HTTP header or directly into the Cheqpoint SDK initializer:

  • HTTP Header: x-api-key: cq_live_...
  • Node.js / Python SDK: connectionKey: "cq_live_..."

Security tip: Never expose Connection Keys in client-side code. Rotate a compromised key immediately from the Developer page - the old key is invalidated instantly.
